Introduction
Welcome to EIPT 5533: Introduction to Instructional Technology. This class will be held every Tuesday at 4:25-7:05PM. Dr. Amy Bradshaw is the professor of this course. The site will be divided into six sections: Article Responses, Research Topics, Recommended Sites, Software Evaluations, Instructional Presentations, and Issue Reviews.

Course Description
This course involves learning about, from, and with instructional technologies. During the semester we will explore the role and potential of emerging technologies, and the praxis of technology and contemporary learning theory. The goal is not only to learn how to use various software programs and technologies, but also to develop critical thinking skills with regard to how we use technologies and how our uses impact learners. The course will address three major areas of educational technology:
1) Telecommunications (e.g., e-mail, Internet, World Wide Web);
2) Visual Communications (e.g., printed materials & presentations; visual literacy);
3) Interactive Multimedia (e.g., educational software use and evaluation; instructional multimedia)

About This Site
In the article response section, I will be assigned to read an article. In those reading, I will have to submit a brief (about one page) response that includes the following: 1) Summary of main idea/focus, 2) Impact on practice of education, 3) My reaction to the article, and 4) Question(s) /topic(s) for discussion from the article.

In the research topics section, I will be posting Description of Topic, Angle, and Research Findings (White Paper). For the White paper, I will have to summarize current research and literature findings regarding the impact of a specific high-profile emergin technology on education.

In the Recommended Sites seciton, I will have to find the best example of an excellent, educationally appropriate site. Write a thorough annotation describing the site, its strengths and any weaknesses, special requirements, and suggestions for its use in an instructional setting. Sites will be judged by class members, and the person who nominates the best overall site will be awarded additional points, as will members of their team.

In the software evaluations section, I will evaluate one instructor-approved multimedia project and present it to the class.

In the Instructional Presentation section, I will be posting proposals, descriptions, and link to projects that is part of my instructional presentation.

In the issue review section, I will be posting issue reviews that will be chosen among my team members. The reviews should address at least the following: Issue summary, IT Connection, stakeholders, resources, impact and potential outcome, areas of concern, and sources (list of references).
