Course Description
This course involves learning about, from, and with instructional
technologies. During the semester we will explore the role and
potential of emerging technologies, and the praxis of technology
and contemporary learning theory. The goal is not only to learn
how to use various software programs and technologies, but also
to develop critical thinking skills with regard to how we use
technologies and how our uses impact learners. The course will
address three major areas of educational technology:
1) Telecommunications (e.g., e-mail, Internet, World Wide Web);
2) Visual Communications (e.g., printed materials & presentations;
visual literacy);
3) Interactive Multimedia (e.g., educational software use and
evaluation; instructional multimedia)
