| 1. SmartKids (http://smartmuseum.uchicago.edu/smartkids/) |
| Comments This site allows students to learn about art and be able to respond creatively to art. Students can choose four different sections in learning about art. Each section has a person that will guide you through that particular section. The first section allows students to visit an actual artist and look at her studio and artwork. In the second section, an individual shows you the different ways to look at art. In the third section, an individual shows you how to look at clues and match the artwork with its history. In the final section, an individual will help you look up words that experts use to describe art. Students have to option to visit an sections they want (non-linear). The appropriate audience for this site is for children around 7-12 years old. This site is most useful for subjects that deal with art, or when the topic of discussion is pertained to art. I think this site can be used for classroom activities or as an independent study. The teacher can allow students to work in groups. There are a lot of hands-on-activities in the site in which the students can explore and try solving the problem. This site, SmartKids is presented by the Smart Museum of Art, University of Chicago |
