Project #3
Brief description
My project began with my journey to find a worthwhile image. I wanted an image
that was very detailed and also inspiring. After looking long and hard for the
right picture, I decided to go for NYC. I've traveled to NYC quite a few times
and managed to take some interesting pictures. In the end, I decided to choose
a picture of a street. This picture really stands out from all of the other
pictures I took. One reason is because of the long narrow path with parallel
trees. It seems very secretive and takes you to an unknown place. It also reminds
me of poems that I've read by Robert Frost.
Synopsis
My task was to use the image I took and modify it four different
times. There were a lot of different ideas that came to my mind
about creating these images. My first idea was to create a season
out of every image. One for Spring, one for Fall, one for Summer,
and one for Winter. Each season would bring a sense of mood to
the image. But I soon found out that it would take too much time
and time was an important factor for me (only 2 days before due).
My second idea was to create mysterious and secretive mood that would make the
viewer imagine and wonder. My first image (modified #1) tried stress on those
moods, and it took me about 4 hours of tweaking and modifying to finish the
image. After that I started shifting to differerent ideas because I was running
out of ways to bringing those moods. So, in the end, I came up with four different
images that don't have any relation or theme with each other. That always seems
to happen to me when I'm designing or creating something.
Techniques Used
Most of the techniques that I used for fairly simple. Although it was
simple, it still took me a long time because I had to keep repeating those simple
steps many times. On the simple techniques, I will just give a few sentence
on how I did it and why I used that technique various times in my images. On
the complex techniques, I will provide step-by-step procedures that you can
follow. This will allow to recreate that effect again if you wish. I've divided
the techniques to four seperate sections (four modified images). Click on an
image below to view the techniques.
